“It’s been an honor to revitalize a game I worked on nearly 30 years ago, and it would not have been possible without our friends at New Blood and Nightdive Studios.” It was a trailblazer and a game of many firsts – the first dually-wielded pistols, first capture the flag mode, and first shooter where you could look up and down!” said Scott Miller, founder of Apogee Entertainment and original project manager of Rise of the Triad circa 1995. “ Rise of the Triad was ahead of its time. Accompanying the announcement is an appropriately over-the-top trailer that shows off the remaster’s polish. Today’s the day for fans of old-school PC first-person shooters to get buried in a lunchbox with Apogee Entertainment, New Blood Interactive and Nightdive Studios’ Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition on PC via Steam. System Shock is due out for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2022. The game’s setting, Citadel Station, is bigger and more terrifying than ever with all-new areas, traps, puzzles and secrets to uncover. Nightdive Studios has worked closely with many of the members of the original System Shock team, including the voice of rogue AI SHODAN-Terri Brosius-to ensure that the remake honors the legacy of the title to the utmost degree. System Shock is a fully-fledged remake of the 1994 classic, pairing its beloved core gameplay with all-new HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled interface and remastered sounds and music. If you’ve never played System Shock before, the game is set on an abandoned space station, where players have to survive a hostile environment and overcome SHODAN (Sentient Hyper-Optimized Data Access Network), a malevolent AI that seeks to destroy humanity. The trailer also shows off more gameplay, including new shows of iconic areas from the 1994 original that have been recreated for the remake. Nightdive has released a brand-new trailer for the game, featuring the return of Terri Brosius as the voice of the malevolent AI SHODAN. The release of Nightdive’s System Shock remake finally looks to be on the horizon.
